Lab Technician

Wondelgem, Belgium

You will be employed as a laboratory technician to support R&D projects and the quality control of products.

You carry out all analytical testings on water and soil samples.

You will be deployed in the production and orders of microbial cultures as well as in the execution of feasibility studies on a laboratory and pilot scale.

You are familiar with techniques such as titration, spectrometry and chromatography.

After a thorough training period, you will be able to independently perform and report the entrusted analyses as well as follow up and report on laboratory and pilot scale tests.

The Lab Technician will be responsible for conducting quality control, performing laboratory tests and analyses, utilizing laboratory equipment, and applying analytical skills.  The role also involves collaborationj with the R&D and project engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Checking the functioning of laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Checking the condition of samples, materials, products and consumables
  • Preparing samples
  • Setting up tests and trials according to a protocol
  • Carrying out measurements and analyses
  • Measuring and recording data in laboratory notebooks, databases, registers and reports
  • Drawing up instructions, procedures, specifications and study reports based on test results
  • Carrying out basic maintenance of laboratory installations
  • Ensuring the monitoring of laboratory consumables, laboratory instruments and laboratory materials
  • Identifying shortages in stocks
  • Disinfecting laboratories
  • Sterilising equipment and instruments
  • Disposing of special waste

Must Have

  • Bachelor Degree in bio(chemistry) or Higher
  • You work accurately and efficiently and are well organized
  • Perfect written English
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Autonomous
  • Valid work permit for Belgium

Nice to have

  • Experience with ISO 17025
  • Experience with biodegradability testing
  • Fluent in Dutch
